Yellowtail on the bite (100607)

Hello everyone;
Our weather today was not so pleasant. We had winds up to 25 knots, with a very confused sea. But the weather didn't stop the Yellowtail from biting. We arrived to the fishing grounds around 09:30 hours, and it didn't take the Yellow's long to start biting. We had limit style fishing, and now we are headed to Cedros Island and try our luck at some larger Yellowtail. Most of the Yellowtail were in the 12 to 15 pound range. We are hoping that our weather will change before we have to head for home. So until tomorrow, wish us luck and we will keep you posted on our upcoming events. The R/p crew.

The Ridge (100507)

Hello everyone;
Well all good things must come to an end, and that's what happened to our weather. We had 12 to 15 knots most of the day, but by night fall it was 18 to 20 knots. So traveling up hill was not a pleasant ride. But it can't last forever.

Our Fishing started offshore looking for kelps, but with 80 plus degrees water temperature, most of the kelp has burned up. So with that in mind, and not finding anything, we made our move to the Ridge. We started at Thetis bank and made our way up to the 23 fathom bank. Our first stop we caught one Yellowtail, and lost a very large Grouper. Then on to the 38 fathom spot, were we caught a handful of nice size Yellowtail (18 to 25 pounds). But that was short and sweet, so we move on. The next stop was the 23 fathom spot, were we caught a couple of Wahoo, and that was our day.

So it was time to make a decision on what to do tomorrow. Moving north our next stop will be for Yellowtail up the line, then may be Cedros Island the next day, so wish us luck and we will keep you posted on our upcoming events. The R/p crew.

Hello everyone;
Our weather took a change today, with overcast skies and a slight breeze. The sun did make a brief showing late, but it was nice to have a breeze to keep it cool.

Fishing also took a change, our morning was a bit slow, with the fishing showing, but not biting. But in the afternoon, things would change. The fish would start to bite late today, and this is a big change from the first two days. The Yellowfin were in the 60 to 80 pound class, with a few going over the century mark.

We departed the fishing grounds around 18:00 hours, and headed for Magdalena bay for bait. After we made a few tanks of bait, Billy made the decision to try our luck at some offshore Wahoo. To we will start looking offshore for something floating. We will start making our way north. Offshore for the morning, and start fishing the Ridge in the afternoon for some Yellowtail and Grouper.

The passengers are having a ball, and look forward to catching some other species. So wish us luck and we will keep you posted on our upcoming events. The R/p crew.

Hello everyone;
Well the fall season is upon us. Weather today was just gorgeous, with flat seas, clear skies, and very warm days. With great weather what more could you ask for.

It's early October, what more could you ask for. Excellent Yellowfin fishing. That's what I said. We had an excellent day of Yellowfin tuna fishing. With most of the fish in the 65 to 80 range, and we are seeing fish over 175 pounds. The out look for the fall season looks great. So if you haven't made your reservation yet, it might be a bit to late.

Our morning started early with a handful of fishing coming aboard. But as the day went on, the fishing just got better. We caught fish on the kite, fly-line Sardine, sinker rigs, Flying Fish, Iron. There is so much life down here right now, it really looks good for upcoming trips. We have another boat in the area, and they are seeing just as much action as us. This is early for the fish this year, and we don't know what to expect on the inner banks, once we start fishing that far south. It could be another banner year.

We will give this another day, before we have to start working our way home. We will try to get some bait tonight in Magdalena bay. We tried an area tonight, but the bait didn't cooperate with us. We are hoping for another good day, before we have to start making our way back up the line. Now this is what the doctor order.

So until tomorrow, wish us luck and we will keep you posted on our upcoming events. The R/p crew.

Looking at the freezer! (100107)

Hello everyone;
Well, now I've seen everything. After a slow morning, we departed the area and started back to Alijos rocks. About 100 miles from the rocks, it pops up. Eddie with his eagle eyes found it. It was a large white object. As we came closer to it, the water turned to gold.

It was a freezer and it was loaded with Dorado. We did battle with the beauties of the sea for about 30 minutes, then they just stop biting, and we had one angler that was on something larger than a Dorado. After a long battle, it was gaffed by crew-member Brook. A nice 50 pound Yellowfin tuna, and as fast as the Dorado bit, so did the Yellowfin. We would do battle with Yellowfin tuna. Most of the Yellowfin were in the 50 to 70 pound range, but a few went over the century mark.

Lucky angler today was Ray Magpli. Ray's fish was estamated around 150 pounds. We would drift away from the freezer, but we did mark it and will try our luck at once again in the morning. What an afternoon, but that's what long-range fishing is all about.

Weather wise, it was flat, clear skies, and very warm today, at one point I was looking for the atoll (Clipperton). So until tomorrow, wish us luck and we will keep you posted on our upcoming events. The R/p crew.

A day of limits

To boldly go where no man has gone!
Hello everyone, thats the way our morning went. We felt like we were in outer space. It was like a someone turned the switch off. We could not find any thing to stop on. The weather was gorgeous, flat seas, clear skies, and warm days. It was just a picture perfect day on the ocean. All we needed was so help from the fish.

After lunch, somebody must have turned on the switch. It was like, the Dorado went on the war path. We didn't find very many kelps, but the one's we found, gave us excellent fishing. We would have limit style Dorado fishing on 12 to 15 pound fish, with a few going over 20 pounds. With limits of Dorado, we would add 2 Wahoo to the catch.

We are now headed for Magdalena bay, and try our luck at catching some larger baits. So wish us luck and we will keep you posted on our upcoming events.

P.S. We have a few openings on upcoming trips: 9 October 2007 (HI's 10 day) 1 opening
19 October 2007 (Open 10 day) 2 openings
Check with our office at (619) 226-8030, and talk to Scotty or Andrea'. We look forwarded to fishing with you.

A day at the Rocks (093007)
Written by Royal Polaris

Hello everyone;
Well let's first talk about our weather. It was a wonderful day on the ocean today. Overcast skies, 8 to 12 knots of breeze most of the day, with very little sea.

We had a very slow morning at the rocks today, with very little to show or talk about. The afternoon showed some hope with a few fishing jumping around. We would end our day with a pot-luck of fish. We caught Dorado, Yellowtail, Yellowfin, and a handful of Grouper. Most of the Yellowfin were in the 45 to 60 pound range, with a handful of smaller ones.

Billy made the decision to make a move to the south. So with the sun going down, we pulled the anchor, made first call for dinner, and now headed southeast. We will be looking for kelps and fishing offshore most of the day, so wish us luck. Until tomorrow, good luck and good fishing. The R/p crew.
