Hello everyone;
Well the trip is over, and what a trip. We are FULL!!! With no more room for fish, it's time to head for home. Our last fish of the trip was a 270 pound giant Yellowfin tuna. I don't know how many we have over 200, or even 300. This is the way to start off the long season. Not much more to say, I'll just let the photos tell the rest. The R/p crew.

Santa is coming to town (121807)

Happy Holidays everyone;
Well our weather is no longer wonderful. We had 12 to 15 knots of breeze out of the northwest. With the wind, it made things a little bit different for us today.

Fishing was on the upswing once again, with 70 to 90 pound fish biting most of the day. It doesn't get any better than to days bite in that size fish. We did have some fish over the century mark, but no giants. Largest fish today was a 180 pound Yellowfin tuna, caught by Roger Hawtree. With one day left, we are hoping that the lager fish will show up tomorrow. With room for only a few more fish, this as been an excellent trip. The only thing we are missing from this trip is Wahoo.

Everyone aboard is exhausted, crew and passengers a well. This is what long-range sportfishing is all about. Tossing a bait, and not knowing what size fish might bite. It could be a giant 300 pound Yellowfin tuna or larger, or a 90 pound school fish. This has been a trip of personnel best for a few of our passenger's.

With one day left, we are hoping for a bingo. So wish us luck and we will keep you posted. The R/p crew.

Excellnet Yellowfin (121807)

Hello everyone;
Our weather continues to be outstanding.

We had excellent fishing today on 140 to 220 pound Yellowfin. We started catching Yellowfin in the 70 to 90 pound range, but by the late afternoon, the flood gates opened. There was excellent fish around the boat, and they came to do battle. In this one stop we had 18 fish in the 140 to 220 pound range.

We are now headed for Magdalena bay, and try our luck at making bait. We have two days left, and we are hoping that that the fishing continues to be on the upswing.

So until tomorrow, wish us luck and we will keep you posted on our upcoming events. The R/p crew.

The release program continues (121707)

Hello everyone;
Our weather continues to be excellent, with flat seas, overcast skies, and humid.

We are on day two of our catch and release program. We had excellent fishing again today, with many of the fish in the 70 to 90 range. We only kept fish over 100 pounds again. Top angler today was Dane Shota. Dane fought this giant for over 2 hours, but in the end, he would be the victor. Dane's fish tapped out at 306 pounds. We had one other fish over 200 pounds, the rest were in the 170 to 190 catogory.

With 3 full days left, we are hoping that the giants will show again for us tomorrow. We are the only boat left in this area, everyone else is headed for home. So with that note, I will close for now, but until the key board and my fingers met again, good luck and good fishing. The R/p crew.

P.S. Wish us luck

Catch and release (121607)
Written by Royal Polaris

Hello everyone;
Weather continues to be excellent.

Today we stared our catch and release program. We released all fish under 100 pounds. All the fish we tagged today were in the 120 to 180 catogory, with one fish going over 290.

Lucky angler today was Howard Hada, of East Los Angles. Howard's fish tapped out at 290 pounds. This is just a beautiful fish. I've seen plenty of giants, but this is one good looking fish. This is a personnel best for Howard.

We will continue to release any fish under 100 pounds tomorrow, so wish us luck on finding Giants. The R/p crew.

Yellowfin on the bite (121507)
Written by Royal Polaris

Hello everyone;
Weather today was just wonderful. We had a light breeze most of the day, with clear skies and warm.

The weather was not the only thing that was wonderful. We had excellent fishing today on Yellowfin in the 70 to 90 pound range. We had a few fish in the 140 to 190 catogory. Good weather , good fishing, and good company, what more could you ask for. Top angler today was Mike Stout. Mike landed a Yellowfin on a 9 foot rod (Seeker Hula) and a Accurate 50W reel filled with lineone spectra, and 100 pound Izoline. It took Mike 45 minutes to bring this giant to color. This is a great accomplishment to get a Yellowfin of this size on that rod. This also is Mike's personnel best Yellowfin. We had a good Dorado bite at 03:00 hours in the morning.

We will try to make bait again tonight, so wish us luck and we will keep you posted on our upcoming event. The R/p crew.

One stop shopping (121407)
Written by Royal Polaris

Hello everyone;
Weather today was a bit breezy in the morning, but by late afternoon, it was 10 to 12 knots of breeze and clear skies.

Fishing was very good today, with three category's of fish. One school was the 70 to 90 pound fish, another was the 120 to 140, and 150 to over 250 pounds. It was excellent fishing on the kite. Top angler today was Dane Shota, with a 280 pound giant. This is Dane's first long trip, and he gets his fish of a life time. Dane was very lucky that he got that fish. Half way through the battle, the fish died. So it was like pulling up an anchor on a rod and reel. We still have 6 full days left of fishing, and we are hoping that the fishing continues to be excellent for us and the fleet.

We stopped the boat at 07:30 hours and never started up again until dinner, one stop shopping!!!

We tried for bait again tonight, but it was a bit tough. There is a school of Dorado around the boat and the crew is catching some for a dinner. Big "D" tired to bounce a large Dorado, and broke a rod in doing so, way to go "D".

So with note, I will close for now, until tomorrow, wish us luck. The R/p crew.

It's starting to look like Christmas (121307)
Written by Royal Polaris

Hello everyone;
Well it's starting to look like Christmas. Weather today was 10 to 12 knots of breeze, clear skies, and a slight chill in the air.

Fishing today was very good, with signs of larger fish showing up. We had at least 3 fish over 200 pounds, with the larger one going over 260 pounds. Lucky anglers today were George Outhwaite with two fish over 200 pounds, and Dick Freeman with another fish over 200 pounds. Most of the other fish are in the 140 to 180 catogory. We had one long drift today that started around 08:00 hours, and we didn't start up until 18:00 hours.

After dinner we made a tank of bait, and we are looking forward to what tomorrow brings. So until tomorrow, wish us luck and we will keep you posted on our upcoming events. The R/p crew
