Fechner (111813)
Our weather continues to be pretty magnificent with calm seas however as we continue to go north we are encountering heavy overcast.

The crew is spending the day scrubbing and oiling rails and scrubbing the boat from top to bottom.

We are going to mention our highliner for the trip.  He was born on December 2nd, 1928.  In another words soon to be 85 years of age.  Karl Fechner was born in Kansas on a cattle ranch that his older brother still runs.  Karl left the ranch joined the Air Force and became a Jet pilot durning the Korean war.  After the war he then became an  Air line pilot until he retired.

Karl and his wife started fishing with handlines in lakes.  He made his first long range trip of 8 days on the Q-105 in 1986.  In 1990 he climbed aboard the Royal Polaris and went to Clipperton Atoll.  He fishes 4 to 6 trips a year these days primarily on the Royal Polaris.  Karl plans on fishing until he cant get aboard any longer.  He continues to buy new equipment each year and loves being on the boat.  Karl caught so much fish this trip that he gave several 100 pound tuna to other anglers along with a few Wahoo.  He is usually up by 04:00 hours and fishes tell dark.  And now you know the rest of the story.  The R/p crew.
