Well as the pictures show, Friday was a busy day. In addition to 8 men
working in the engine room there were a total of 6 men sanding and grinding
on the hull.
For those of you wondering about the truck with all of our machinery on it,
it was headed for Ensenada and those engines will be in a Purse Seiner and
operating in one week.
Meanwhile, just to educate those who would like to know, the steps in
painting the hull of the Royal Polaris they are as follows:
1. Chip all bubbled paint
2. Sand entire hull with 80 grit and 120 grit discs
3. Sand blast all bare aluminum spots
4. Wash all bare aluminum spots with a two step chemical process of
Alodyne and Aluma-prep
5. Paint bare aluminum with special strontium
6. Apply Bondo (fiberglass filler) where bare aluminum was plus all
divots
7. Sand all fiberglass filler
8. Wash hull
9. Spray all bondo areas with Primer paint
10. Sand entire hull with 220 sandpaper by hand
11. Apply 2 coats Polyurethane gloss - now we are done with the hull
We will update you again tomorrow on Saturday's events.
